An Introduction to Flora Tea
Consumed both for the pure pleasure of its taste and for the wealth of health benefits it provide, floral teas are definitely back in fashion. And it's really no wonder. Floral teas have been part of the human diet for thousands of years. Then, as now, they were consumed both for their taste and for medicinal purposes. The difference is that up to about 50 years ago, when conventional medicine began to advance rapidly, herbs and herbal teas were relied on by humans almost exclusively to treat a whole range of illnesses, from minor coughs and colds to life threatening diseases such as malaria.

Today, herbs are generally used to complement conventional treatments, and in some cases can offer effective alternatives with fewer side effects. But beware of taking herbal medicines too lightly. Herbs, like all medicines, contain potent substances which need to be treated with espect, and should not be consumed indiscriminately, or without first understanding the effects they can have.
In fact, many of the properties and effects of medicinal herbs remain mysteries. While we are aware of what they do, we are often not sure why, and ongoing research is still discovering how herbal medicines work, and uncovering new and more miraculous health benefits.

What we do know is that the right herb used in the right amounts can have a very positive effect on a vast array of physical, mental and emotional conditions ranging from insomnia to eczema, indigestion, even depression. At the same time, many herbs contain small amounts of vitamins and minerals which are easily assimilated by the body and help to keep you in overall good condition.
